Ages 11 to 14. The bridge between foundational learning and exam-focused study. Where young people discover what they are good at.
Junior high is when education gets interesting. Children move from learning the basics to exploring subjects in depth. They start to notice which subjects they enjoy, which ones come naturally and which ones need more effort. These discoveries shape their subject choices in senior high and ultimately their career direction.
At Impact, we use the junior high years to broaden exposure. Students study a wide range of subjects so they can make informed choices later, not guesses based on limited experience. We also introduce study skills, exam technique and independent research habits that become essential in the years ahead.
Available through CBC Junior Secondary (Grade 7-9), Cambridge Lower Secondary (with Checkpoint exams) or IB MYP (Years 1-3). The curriculum content differs, but the approach is consistent: challenge, support and genuine engagement.
Reading increasingly complex texts, analytical writing, poetry, drama and novel study. Students learn to construct arguments and express ideas with precision.
Algebra, geometry, statistics, probability and problem solving. We ensure students are genuinely comfortable with mathematical thinking, not just following procedures.
Biology, chemistry and physics taught as separate disciplines. Practical experiments every week. Students learn to design investigations and interpret results.
History, geography and religious education. Students develop the ability to analyse sources, understand different perspectives and construct evidence-based arguments.
French, Swahili and additional options. Communication skills, cultural understanding and grammar development through meaningful contexts.
Art, music, ICT, business studies and pre-technical subjects. For CBC students, this is where pathway exploration begins in earnest.
